I haven't written about this in a long time

This picture speaks volumes.  A possible answer to this picture goes back to the when the first Kyoto Protocol was established.   There were conditions created with in the protocol that determined how c02 levels were to be calculated.  It is important to understand that point, as no Canadian government from Jean Chretien who signed the document has challenged the wording of the document let alone challenged the outcome of the document.

According to the protocol, Canada is not entitled to use the rich natural resources of the forests to be included in the calculations.   It was considered to be unfair for Canada to use these resources as it would affect the calculation of the c02 levels in Canada to be zero, something which the other countries did not like.  That is why Russia never signed onto the Kyoto Protocol due to the vast natural resources of forests that Russia has.

Brazil never signed onto the Kyoto Protocol either since they were cutting down the rainforest, thereby knowing that their c02 levels would be skyrocketing.  India never signed onto the protocol either because of the large population and the lack of pollution laws.  Their c02 levels have been skyrocketing as well.  China never signed onto the protocol either, declaring it was unfair to force a developing country into such an agreement that would almost cripple their economy.   In fact there are over 100 countries that never signed the Kyoto Protocol nor the agreements made in Brazil even in Paris.  That is why only G8 and G20 countries have been at these international agreements.

It is further interesting to note that when Chretien signed the agreement, it was never ratified by his liberal government.  In fact the agreement was considered so damaging at that time, that members of the liberal government were ready to vote against any attempt to ratify the agreement.  The agreement was later ratified with conditions and side agreements by the conservative government under Steven Harper.  Even though the agreement was ratified, it was pushed aside just the same.

Now enters justin trudeau who is now bringing in carbon taxes and other punishing laws that will eventually cripple the Canadian economy.  trudeau only wants to be the "hero" of the environment activists and doesn't really give a shit about the country what so ever.  That's what Canada gets when liberal strongholds elect a person who's only certification is as a snowboard instructor.

If Canada could include the forests in the calculations the outcome would be very very very different.
