WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

I remember times when I would be willing to try something new, go out on a limb, take a chance and most of all, the belief that I was invincible.  We thought that because we were young we had it made, and if we failed or got into trouble, we somehow came out on the better side of chance.

Now those days are gone.  Those same thoughts have fled from us and our Guardian Angel feels much better.  Have we lost something from our youth?  Have we lost the opportunities to play the game as it were?  What changed us as we got older?

I suppose responsibilities can be blamed.  New and different outlook on life realizing that we are no longer invincible, that there is a reality that has consequences.  Our youth is no longer there, and what has been replaced is a kind of fear that we no longer are able to climb out on that limb.  We have come to the point where if we do something and we have to think "What do I do now?" we understand that it is now too late.

In our youth, we had a fire with in us, that we could change the world, and that through this change, the world would be a better place.  In some cases I believe we have made changes, and some of them are for the good.  While there are many changes that we have made that aren't so good.  But we believed we were right.  The fire that burn with in us, was hot and powerful.  That is likely why young people make good soldiers, they have the fire of right, the desire to change, and the belief they are invincible.    We soon find out differently in so many cases.

I believe we once more need to stand on the mountain top, on the precipice of life and defiantly stand and with a clear voice, and shout our loudest and most explosive yawp so that the world will once more hear our voice and know that we are here.
