Governments around the world have sacrificed their economies, their people, their societies all for something that has a very high recovery rate.
What is it that we are missing when governments go out of their way to control the population even to the point of collapse and near destruction. We here of Australia that went to a total lock down for roughly four months to conquer covid-19. There were massive bankruptcies, layoffs, near collapse of the economy. Yes the result is that they beat the virus, but was the cost worth it?
The CBC went out of it's way to say yes as they spoke with Canadians that live and work in Australia. The near suggestion that Canada does the same was even considered by CBC reporters even though they didn't say it. The end result appears to be what governments are looking at. What can be sacrificed and what can't. The CBC report never ventured into the areas of mental illness, suicides, homeless people, the poor and the marginalized, nursing and senior retirement homes, and especially the aboriginals of Australia. The reporter totally ignored the costs and suggested that Australia did the right thing.
Here we are in Canada, and a great divide was been created. There are so many rules and regulations that have been made into law, petty dictators from local health units created by provincial governments, and then the demands to fix what has been broken for decades. Travel bans between provinces and even between cities and regions are being created, and all for a disease that has an 85% to 90% recovery rate.
In order to accommodate the poverty being forced on everyone in the Canadian Union of Socialist Provinces, billions of dollars that neither the federal nor the provincial governments actually have, is being spent on the population. While people are loosing their homes, their livelihoods, their lives, there is more concern to eradicate a virus a virus. People have become "pons" for government controls that will stay in place for a very very long time.
One thing that has been determined and shown through out Canada is that Canadians are not free like they thought they were.
