At present in Canada there appears to be a month dedicated to one thing or another and there has even been an overlap in some cases. For those of us who are trying to live our own life in peace, we find ourselves being attacked because we prefer to be left alone.
June is gay pride month, which had a place decades ago, but now is nothing more than a circus coming to town. Then there's Black History month where we're expected to again set aside our lives for "the cause". Don't get me wrong, Black History month is fascinating and carries a lot of weight when it comes to understanding and knowing our history.
Then there's Indigenous Month, which again isn't as bad as what some people think. It is a source of history that has long been ignored or never even understood. It's a chance to learn, which is important and Canadians should be learning something about First Nations in Canada.
There's a month for this and a month for that. And if there isn't a month dedicated to one group or another, there are protests the take the place. Black Lives Matter sounds good, but if you say All Lives Matter you're a racist. It was the Black Lives Matter protests where the insistence on picking a side was made some how mandatory. All of a sudden trying to live your life in peace became racist. Now that has carried on with every group who have an axe to grind. The demand seems to be that you are not allowed to be neutral. You're not allowed to go about your life in peace. You are being told you must take a side.
What seems to have developed is forced compliance. Every group is attempting to not gain approval or support, but rather every group appears to be in competition with (here goes) white people as if the white people are tokens to be collected. It is almost like white people are being "head hunted" and told how they are to support one group or another. Refusal to participate the white person is automatically a racist.
No one wants to be called a racist, so they are forced to join in the fray of compliance even though WE JUST WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE TO LIVE OUR LIVES IN PEACE. I give respect to people or groups who don't demand I have to make a choice. I give respect to organizations that don't demand I have to wear their colours, walk their walk, or talk their talk. But that's not what these groups want.
Many of these special interest groups see two things. You are either for them or against them. There doesn't appear to be a third option which is PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE. So what is the end result? People going into hiding to get away from this.
During Pride Week in Toronto, many people fled the city, especially on the weekend when the clown acts were marching. Making it Pride Month solved the escape plan except when the parade show arrived. The demand for politician to march in these parades shows how much of a circus act this has become. The demand mostly by the Black Lives Matter that gay police officers are not welcomed, continue to show the segregation being forced by one group upon another. And yet the very purpose of the Pride movement was not only for acceptance, but for the desire of living in peace with each other. But this is no longer the case.
It has become more and more difficult for people of all races and all stripes of life to be left alone, in peace, living our lives quietly. The truth is we have our own problems in dealing with life. We have our own difficulties in dealing the cancer, loved ones, passing away due to one thing or another. We have our own difficulties in trying to survive in a world where survival is no longer tolerated.
What it really coms down to is this: "I will respect you, if you respect my desire to be left alone."
