As the year 2020 begins to come to an end, being there are only two months left to go, Canadians have discovered the dictatorial powers of the federal government and the provincial governments. Canadians have discovered that they can just go with the flow, or they can stand up. In the present situation, most Canadians have gone with the flow, while those who question the status quo are being looked down upon as they rock the political boats.
The media have been seen as the new propaganda machines of the political parties, and to challenge them is to challenge the political powers that run the show. When the news media and the governments walk the same path, and share the same bed, you know there's going to be trouble.
Those who question and or oppose the government's direction are soon attacked by the media. First of all it's done in a quiet way as in, there are people out there who don't believe the covid-19 virus is real. Be careful of those people because they're not right in the head. When it persists, the media becomes stronger in their directed comments.
What 2020 has shown to Canadians, is the powers of the different levels of government and how the news media has manipulated the people to accept without question the powers of the government. It is no longer about the virus my friends. It is about the political power that is wielded and controlled by the governments regardless of the political party that holds the political power of the offices of the prime minister or premiers of a province.
Each and every government in Canada has enacted emergency legislations. From this source of legislative powers, new extensions of those powers suddenly have been added to the normal legislative narrative of everyday non-emergency powers of office. Any opposition to these new powers is quickly and quietly dealt with through the political party and the media which supports the party in power.
Case in point: Premier Ford recently passed legislation in the Ontario legislature that would see emergency powers embedded into the daily routine of political powers in the office of premier. This means that the premier can declare an emergency without the consent of the Ontario legislature. One member of the Ontario Conservative Party voted against the motion, and she was quickly denounced for her actions and questioning as she voted against the policies being passed into law. For her bravery in questioning the government and the premier, she was kicked out of the party with in the hour. She now sits as an independent in the legislature. The media chose to vilify her instead of praising her for questioning in the premier. She was branded as a rouge individual who got what she deserved.
It is interesting to note, that while provincial governments exercised their powers of emergency, and went into action as fast as possible, the federal government has yet to enact the Emergency Measures Act. Yes that it right. While the provinces has enacted their own powers of emergency, the federal government has yet to do so. Instead the federal government has been busy spending more money that ever before, buying votes for the next federal election which will be in 2022. While the provincial governments are exercising their emergency powers, the federal government is buying their powers at the expense of the other parties in parliament. The end result is that the federal government has exercised it's own dictatorial powers despite being in a minority government. What other party would question the welfare social policies? The money is ear marked for the people. If a party denounces the legislations being presented, that party is accused of not helping the people, and what party can afford to be seen as the party that hurts the people.
The media is quick to pick up on that point and any party that opposes the social policies of the liberal party in power would be vilified without mercy by the media. In Canada it is important to understand that the media is the propaganda machine of the liberal party.
If anything then, the year 2020 has shown the powers of the different levels of government, and has also shown that it is the government who is deciding how long this emergency will last. So far 2021 will be a carry through of these emergency powers as governments have made it clear that this "pandemic" is not over and won't be until they say it is, which is in accordance to the Constitution Act of 1983. Who knows -- we may never see the end of political dictatorship style in Canada.
